    esports

Esports is an industry that has grown dramatically in recent years. It generates hundreds of millions of dollars in profit. It works like a professional sports league, with operators paying players for their participation and distributors paying for the broadcast rights. It has become a lucrative industry for both players and advertisers. The future of the industry looks bright, but there are some major challenges ahead.

    esports is a digital sport

Esports is a digital sport, which can be played on a computer. It is regulated by the Philippine government under the Law 11 of 2022 on Sports. The law defines sports as activities that require the use of the mind and body for the purpose of developing potential. It also defines children as those under the age of eighteen.

    It’s a growing industry

Despite the skepticism of some, esports is a growing industry that has massive potential for growth. The growing popularity of competitive gaming tournaments on the internet is attracting audiences of all ages. The competitive nature of gaming has made it a legitimate spectator sport, with professional teams competing for big prize pools. Some platforms even reward viewers for viewing their matches.

    It’s a sport

Esports is a competitive game that involves players sitting in a chair, playing a video game. Many athletes achieve a high number of movements on their keyboard or mouse each minute, while the average person only moves about 400 times that often. In fact, the International Olympic Committee has declared chess to be a sport. However, some gamers may be skeptical about this. They may not be ready to give up their traditional sports for a different form of competition.

    It’s a franchise

Many pro sports have franchises and esports is no different. For example, the Call of Duty League has teams that compete in a calendar event. There are also League of Legends franchises that have post-season events. Franchises in both games can be connected to traditional sports leagues through ownership groups or minority investors.

    It’s a social phenomenon

Despite the negative press surrounding esports, they are still popular and are engaging millions of fans. These competitive video games require a high level of physical, strategic, and tactical skill. Esports has even led to professional Formula One drivers joining celebrities for virtual races. At one point, 22 million viewers tuned in to watch these races.
