Esports is an exciting new form of entertainment that combines the excitement of sports with the competitive nature of video games. It is a growing industry that is now well-established and has an impressive following. In fact, esports is projected to reach $1.5 billion in revenue by 2020. This market has already proven to be lucrative for both players and sponsors.

Unlike traditional sports, esports requires more mental skills and cerebral skills, while also being fast-paced. Athletes and teams train for hours, often up to 14 hours a day. They must have precise movement patterns and excellent communication. Also, they must have great strategy, as they need to overcome obstacles.

Some esports are team-based, while others are one-on-one. These competitions are broadcast around the world to a larger audience. The winners of these tournaments are awarded large cash prizes. Besides the money, there are many business opportunities for professional gamers.

Many esports organizations are like an elite conglomerate of video game teams. These organizations are formed to compete against other organizations, and they have their own sets of rules and regulations. Unlike traditional sports, all esports players use the same piece of software. Most esports are played online, and players usually interact with each other through a stream. As a result, esports are a perfect medium for engaging in conversations with other players and viewers.

In addition to its ability to engage younger people, eSports is a powerful tool for advertisers. Many major companies sponsor esports tournaments, and some major brands have even sponsored esports teams.

While the eSports community is relatively small compared to the sports community, the growth of this industry is expected to continue. By 2022, insider intelligence has forecasted that esports will reach 29.6 million viewers. That’s a nearly 50% increase from the current figure. Those who watch esports are mostly young adults and teenagers. Among those who are avid followers, nearly a third are earning more than $90,00.

Despite its rapid growth and popularity, esports has still not yet reached its full potential. Although many esports games are currently available on consoles and PCs, the lag and latency of some of these games is so high that they are virtually unplayable. There are a variety of factors, including distance from a server, which can cause the user to experience debilitating effects.

One of the biggest barriers to esports success is the lack of infrastructure. While esports has the opportunity to be scalable, the lack of infrastructure makes it difficult for all parts of the world to participate. Several of the top esports developers have not developed their infrastructure to the African continent, and esports fans cannot access most of the games from there. For example, Riot Games has a large presence in North America, but does not have an African server.

However, esports has the potential to become as popular as any other sport. Fans can enjoy a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, and PCs. If you have a high-speed Internet connection, you can play anywhere.
